Our story begins in 1975 when Alan Rappaport, a budding entrepreneur, established a cleaning company that would be known for being affordable and providing excellent work. Over 25 years, he and his wife grew the business and hired employees who had similar values of honesty, commitment and excellence. At its height, Alan and Shelley Rappaport built Budget Home and Office Cleaning to over 100 clients (a mix of home and business clients) and a staff of 20+, some of whom have been with the organization between 15-40 years. In 2000, Shelley stepped back from the business and her daughter Sherry helped run the business with her father and eventually took it over when her parents retired.

Founders
Budget Home and Office Cleaning’s unique selling point is based on Mr. Rappaport’s recognition of the personal touch that every home and business needs. He believed that when you can have remarkable cleanliness, you should not settle for the ordinary. This is what makes Budget Home & Office Cleaning special.
Alan & Shelley Rappaport and their daughter, Sherry Rosenstein, led Budget Home and Office Cleaning for 49 years. In the Fall of 2024, Sherry sold the business to Richard and Cynthia Rivera. She asked that we keep true to the original vision her father had when he established the business in 1975.
New Owners
Richard and Cynthia are both first-generation college graduates. Their families migrated to the US in the 1960s with very little education. They both live purpose-driven lives and are dedicated to serving children with special needs and helping underrepresented youth access post-secondary pathways. Richard and Cynthia have spent their careers working in both the education and non-profit sectors.
When they purchased the business, Sherry provided extensive training and has become a mentor, always responsive with advice and feedback. Richard is now dedicating all of his time to maintaining, expanding and modernizing Budget Home & Office Cleaning.
Richard and Cynthia recognize that each client has unique needs and are committed to ensuring they receive quality service at an affordable price. They are committed to providing their cleaners a living wage while supporting them in strengthening their educational and technical skills so they can advance professionally. Budget Home & Office Cleaning staff are offered shifts during the morning, afternoons, evenings &/or weekends so they can continue their educational pursuits and care for their families.
